As previously stated, Search Engines hate replicated websites!
Why do the search engines hate replicated websites?
Because they’re all the same!
Search engines have to provide a product (solution) for their
customers and that product is: Useful, relevant, unique, content.
In their eyes, duplicate content like these cookie cutter
type websites do not provide any value to their users and so they completely
ignore them when you do your search. In fact, most search engines will treat them the same as
someone spamming their in-box.
Anytime I’m trying to gain a clear picture of the
significance of a given technique, or what it is that I want to happen, I
often like to look at the extreme end of the spectrum.
What is it that I
don’t want to happen? Then, I simply do the opposite of that.
So in this situation, if I’m the search engine and someone
types in “home based business” and does a search and they get hundreds upon
hundreds of results that literally all point to the exact same website - I’m
going to be a pretty useless search engine to them, aren’t I? Chances are
they’re not going to come back to do a search with me again.
Therefore, in order to be successful, search engines have to
give people different results. The more diverse the results, and the better
their quality, the more valuable that search engine is to the customer or user.
What this means for you is that if you want the search
engines to pay attention to you....
You Have To BE Unique!
Now, there are many different ways to get visitors to your
website and we’re just talking about one specific example here, but there is
a much bigger picture to look at because the reason the search engines don’t
like replicated sites is also the same reason why they can prevent you from
really seeing the type of lifestyle-changing growth you’re looking for.
You see, in order for any business to be successful, one of
the most basic fundamentals of marketing that must be followed is that your
business
has to have a unique competitive edge.
It has to stand out from the herd.
The key thing to keep in mind is that YOU are your business,
not your company and their marketing material. In other words, it isn’t enough for your opportunity to be
different…you have to be different.
You have to sell yourself because
all the other opportunities out there look the same to your prospect, but that’s
not the only thing that’s making you blend in. Perhaps even more important,
you have to stand out from all the thousands of other distributors that
people can sign up with.
Marketers call this their USP-Unique Selling Proposition.
Basically: what can you offer people that others can’t?
You’ve probably heard the expression “differentiate or die?”
Well, somebody forgot to tell the network marketing industry
this because…
Differentiation Is Impossible. If The Only Website You Have
Is A Replicated One. It’s Impossible If You’re Using The Exact Same
Materials All The Other 1,000,000 Representative's Are Using.
What’s ironic is that this is all done for the purpose of
“keeping it duplicable,” but it’s a catch-22 because duplication (or at
least the traditional MLM version of it) discourages differentiation.
How
many of us have been told by our up-line: “Don’t try to reinvent the wheel?”
Aside from the fact that the “wheel” they’re referring to is
an obsolete collection of techniques and methodologies that never worked
very well in the first place, why is this a big deal?
Because....
Without differentiation, it’s impossible to attract
people to you.
With the way this business is normally done, we’re all taught
to be the exact same cookie cutter reps. We’re told to look the same, act
the same, say the same things, and use the same tools.
It’s all just one big mess of “sameness” out there, and just
like with the search engines, that’s the last thing you want.
The internet is really a fascinating microcosm – a mini
science experiment, an ant farm, it you will – of business overall. Search
engines are designed around natural human behavior and so they make an
excellent model of the direction you want to take in your business.
All of the internet and all of business itself functions on
uniqueness. Our entire economic system wouldn’t be able to exist if it
weren’t for different businesses filling different needs.
In fact, every day the internet itself is gradually, more and
more, moving towards making it so that you simply won’t be able to survive
online if you don’t have something different to offer people.
Always remember that….
The More Unique You Are, The More Valuable You Are – To
Everyone!
The more unique you are…
The more search engines and other advertising mediums will
favor you (we’ve only talked about natural search engine traffic, but if
you’re using replicated sites you’ll run into the same problem with
pay-per-click).
This means more visitors to your website, which means more
prospects, which means you don’t have to go out looking for people
yourself….The more your prospects and customers will be drawn to you
and will want to do business with you.
The benefits here are pretty obvious.
They’ll see you as someone who can really help them, which means higher
conversions, bigger profits, faster growth, etc….
The more opportunities in general that will open up to you…
Because of the higher conversions and bigger profits you’ll experience as a
result of attracting customers to you, you’ll simply be able to take
advantage of more situations and deals out on the internet and from the rest of
the business world. A good example would be getting more prospects at a
cheaper cost by buying advertising in bulk.
Another result of this is…..The more other businesses will want to work with you.
As you grow and your business develops its own true identity,
you’ll find other business owners – both within our industry and outside of
it- are now coming to you with joint venture offers; I personally get dozens
of offer every day for joint ventures. These are opportunities to generate mass
quantities of prospects in a very short period of time – opportunities that
will never be opened to you until you develop your own material or your own
special “angle.” This is a whole other world of money-making possibilities
that the majority of people are prevented from ever experiencing because of
the stifling nature of the way this industry has taught them to do business.
Now, just to be clear: I’m not saying you can’t or shouldn’t
use your company site or replicated sites period. I promote replicated
websites of mine all the time.
It’s just all about when and how you promote them.
Directing your prospect to your company site is a part of the
process and they do serve a purpose, but sending them there first is a huge
mistake (one of the main reasons for this is control – which we’ll talk about
more of in a little bit).
Company sites are great for obtaining general information and
even more so, giving existing customers a place to go and re-order your
company’s retail products, but the fact is, rarely are they ever designed to
do what we need them to do: Buy or request information from you.
Your company site is a piece, a tool, within your marketing
system.
It should never be your entire system on the
web.
I should also point out that you certainly can be successful
for awhile by tapping into someone else’s system or by promoting a
replicated website – as long as they use good marketing techniques (which
most MLM company sites don’t) – and it can be a faster way to get into
profit mode, which is definitely important…but sooner or later, the
realization that ALL high-earning network marketers come to is that in order
to achieve true long-term success, they have to offer people more—above and
beyond what their opportunity does or what other reps out there do.
Coming to this realization sooner is better than later.
So what kind of site do you need to be effective?
There are numerous different types of sites you can build and
all of them can be extremely profitable – I know people who are building
phenomenal businesses using all of them – but....
The most important thing is
that you must have full control over your website.
Let me reemphasize that again: "You
Must Have Full Control Over Your Website!" You need to be able to go in and change anything you want and
above all else, you need your website to position
YOU as the expert.
The last thing you want to be doing is singing your company’s
praises or plastering their logos all over the place. In fact, you don’t
even want to mention your opportunity on your website. All this does is
cause people to put up their guard. (Most MLM companies won’t allow you to
use their name on your own site anyways, which is just fine.)
This site is
to establish you and your credibility.
You want people to trust you as a resource first, before
making a recommendation for your company.
If you talk about your opportunity too soon it’ll set off the
sales pitch “red flags” and you’ll lose them. Whereas if you provide good,
useful information upfront, that will open the door for you to make other
offers to them.
Like I said, there are different kinds of sites you can build
and what you want to do will depend on your particular situation and what
you’re trying to accomplish. My biggest success came when I put up a sales
letter site, similar to this one, despite the advice of everyone around me.
People laughed. They shook their heads. They tried to
discourage me.
One of the leaders in my company (cross-line from me) said
“you don’t want to bother with that. You’re wasting your time.”
When I had the initial meeting with some of my webmasters and showed
them my plans, they were horrified. They said: “You are violating every single rule in the
book about designing a website. I will be amazed if this thing works.”
(We had obviously read different books about marketing and designing
websites). You see, I've been doing this for over 35 years. My systems
career started with the United States Air Force in the 1970's. I would
constantly have to write, test and debug different programs until they
worked.
Afterwards, I was afforded the opportunity to put it all in writing
for the layperson. Then, I was given the honors (if you can call it that) of
teaching how my new system worked in a formal classroom setting. This
normally consisted of a formal class of 50 or so people, in one classroom,
for two weeks at a time.
Well, we (or I might say I) slapped my website up there on the web
disregarding all their advise….
…and after it cranked out 2,871 leads for myself and my team
and generated $230,828.11 in retail sales in one month…
…nobody was laughing anymore, Quite the opposite in fact, as
I became the top performer in my company I was trying to market for.
My webmasters has since changed their mind about sales letter
websites.
Just to be clear though: Simply having a sales letter does
not automatically make a website effective.
There are good sales letters and there are bad sales letters,
just as there are good sales methods and bad ones.
We’ve all seen the obnoxious, blaring websites that scream
hype so loudly they almost make you lose your lunch. This isn’t what I’m
talking about.
In order to make your website connect with your prospects and
pull them into your marketing pipeline (regardless of whether you’re using a
sales letter format or not), one of the most important elements you’re going
to need is copywriting:
What is
Copywriting? It is the process of effectively transferring sales
messages onto marketing pieces.
The reason it’s so important is because the copy, the words,
are the first thing that your prospect sees! It’s the very frontline of your
business. And they will make or break you because it is the words, the
message, of your marketing that sells.
If There Was One Thing You Could Invest Time Into Learning, I
Would Recommend It Be Copywriting.
It’s the skill that you will probably use more than any other,
and it will have the greatest impact on your business.
Good copywriting versus poor copywriting is the deciding
difference between a 0.5% converting website and a 5% converting website.
It’s the difference between generating 50 prospects a month and 500
prospects a month.
Since the purpose of every step in your marketing pipeline is
to get your prospect to take the next step, every single piece or component
of the system has to have the ability to sell. This ability to craft a
persuasive message is the same skill that you use to write an ad…a sales
letter…an email…an article…or a Blog post.
By pure coincidence, this is also a huge area where many MLM
companies seriously drop the ball.
Not good!
There are some exceptions and things are getting better, but
on the whole, it’s a pretty bad situation out there.
Many of the tools (websites, brochures, emails,
presentations, etc.) that companies provide for their distributors have
almost zero actual sales value.
Often times they’re put together mainly by graphic designers
– which is fine if you’re going for aesthetic appeal – but not if you’re
going for bottom-line results. Very few of them have the core, fundamental
sales knowledge that is needed to persuade visitors to take action. They
specialize in building great looking websites with cool designs, but many do
not realize that a lot of the impressive high tech bells and whistles they
add can be a major hindrance to sales.
I’ve actually been victim to this thinking myself. In one
test I did I had a website with some very attractive custom graphics on it
that I was absolutely in love with and I thought for sure would improve the
conversion rate of that site. And it wasn’t just me either - Everyone I
showed them to thought they were awesome. When I put the site up however,
the results were less than exciting.
I removed the graphics to give it a very plain look and it
went from turning out 3-4 prospects a day…to generating 25 or more
every day.
Why? Maybe they were so attractive that that’s all people
were focusing on, instead of the message itself.
I was just
visiting recently with a friend of mine in Virginia and he mentioned this
very topic. He said: "Joe, these websites you have offers some really useful
information.....they're designed very well....I really really like them.....
I remember back in the early 1990's I was visiting with you one day and you
were working on a Dancing Baby project and the baby was dancing to the tune
of Jerry Lee Lewis' Whole Lot Of Shaking Going On."
I remembered
exactly what he was referring to. And, the Dancing Baby was designed to
attract visitor's to that one page and to leave them no avenue out of the
theater (you might say out of the webpage) after the performance, except
by typing in a new URL into their browser, or clicking
on one of the ads, from which I made money. What my friend didn't realize,
that little Dancing Baby was making me some big returns of my time
investment because most people were exiting the theater (my webpage) by
clicking on one of those paid advertisements.
Another major problem with company marketing pieces is that
they fail to identify with the prospect’s true concerns: ““How am I going to
do this?”
In fact, the majority of them are counter-productive
because they try to sell your prospect a way of doing business that most
likely gives them an immediate gag-reflex:
Talking to friends, family,
co-workers and
total strangers about their opportunity.
My question to
them is this......what happens after you have exhausted that market (dubbed
by the industry as - your warm market)?
To see exactly
what I'm talking about you should take about 10 minutes to watch the
following video.
In fact, in the
video, they boost about selling to your family and friends. I refer to this
example for illustrative purposes only to teach people, that in my opinion,
is exactly what not to do when it comes to marketing your
business.
Am I saying their
products or opportunity is bad? Absolutely not!
I'm just saying,
in my experience, I would not teach any of my students to market this way.
Every person,
that joins this particular company, or any other company like it, gets this
very same replicated website. How many members do they have, I don't know
- hundreds of thousands is a conservative estimate.
My point is that there are thousands upon thousands of them out there.
Can you get this
replicated website listed on Google, Yahoo, MSN or any other search engine
site? The answer is NO unless you agree to pay them to place that particular
URL out there ahead of all others. Once you stop paying, it will disappear
forever. Moreover, why would you want to pay to have it put out there if all
it's going to do is cost you money to invoke your visitors gag-reflexes when
they hear all they have to do is sell to their family, friends, co-workers,
etc.
Furthermore, just
show this technique to someone and tell them that all they have to do is go
present their products or services to their family, friends, co-workers, et
cetera and all their financial problems and dreams are resolved and see how
far that gets you.
First of all
they're probably not interested in your opportunity and do not want to be
bothered with what you're trying to present. Secondly, these people (your warm
market) know you and your background. So, unless you have considerable
knowledge and background in that industry you're trying to present, they're
not going to take you seriously anyway.
The end result is
that you just windup being rejected from family and friends feeling embarrassed yourself..
The video you are
about to watch is mine or I should say given to me as part of a package when
I looked into this company. So, you're going to have to endure my
face as you watch the video.
Do I use this
website. The answer is Yes. I'm about to use it now. I also have over 400
other websites that I market. But, I certainly don't market them like this
video. You see, I've been doing this a long time. I know what works and what
will not work.
After you watch
the video, I want to point out more problems or what I call injustices
being portrayed and information that is misleading.
So, if you want
to watch a video of how NOT to market your business, in my opinion,
Did you pickup on
who to market to in this video? Family, friends, co-workers, et cetera. Does
that not want to make you gag? What are you going to do when that market
runs dry?
Folks, here is
what is wrong with this picture here in the video. They are taking vendors
for example like, Starbucks, zChocolat and hundreds of other companies that
pay commission on affiliate sales, cutting the paid commission by 50% or
more to their Brokers, and giving them the leftovers. In the meantime, they
are getting rich making 50% or more off of thousands of Brokers efforts on
hundreds of companies. Plus, they are charging the Brokers $49.95 per
month to be maintain what they call a "Brokers License."
Take Starbucks
for example who pays 5.00% to 15.00% on affiliate sales. Zam Zuu will pay
their affiliate reps up to 5.00%. Look at the difference in the math. 15% -
5% = 10%; plus they are still having to payout that $49.95 every month to
maintain that "Brokers License" which is not needed at all.
The same with
zChocolat from France. They pay their affiliate sales people 25.00% on the
sale of their Chocolates. Zam Zuu is offering their reps (Brokers) up to
12.50% in commission to market this companies products. That is a loss of
income of 50%. You sell a $100 box of Chocolates you get paid up to $12.50
from Zam Zuu; plus, don't forget about the monthly broker fees, that is not
needed, of $49.95. Whereas, if you had your own website established, and had
full control of it, you could establish an affiliation on your own with
zChocolat and get the entire $25 off the sale of a $100 box of Chocolates.
The statistics of
you actually succeeding in this marketing technique is about 1:10000 of
every person you get to show your opportunity to. At that, the one person
that shows a
little interest from this technique just does not know any better themselves.
For a one time
fee of $49.95 I will show you exactly how to market other companies
products. The key to it is that you must first have your own website. Don't think
about one website, think in terms of dozens or hundreds of websites.
After you've
established yourself with a website and are interested, I'll give you the
links to hook up with thousands of companies like Delta, United, Hotels.com,
Expedia, zChocolat, Starbucks, Macy's, Sears, TigerDirect, Scottrade, etc, etc, etc;
any company, in any industry that you're interested in for a one time fee of
$49.95. If you're interested
to by now or clicking the "Buy It Now" button below. These are the same companies that Zam Zuu is marketing and
you'll be giving yourself a 50% or more raise in commission earning
potential. I'll also give you dozens of links to sell nearly any product on the
internet, whether it be your product or someone else's.
What does that
cost? Let's break it down. For $4.99 per month you can establish a simple
website to sell a specific line of products at our
Hawaiian Joe's Island Hosting
site by
purchasing a Website Tonight account.
However, first is first, and you must establish yourself a unique domain
name. A little later down the line when you get going, you will want to
upgrade to a Deluxe Hosting account whereby you can host hundreds of
websites on one account. The cost of that is approximately $70 per year; not
month, but per year. That is it.
Let's take the
example above and say you're interested in selling candy on the web. You
would do like I and purchase something similar to
www.HawaiianJoeCandy.com .
Basically, all you'll find on this website is candy or snack products
from Hawaii.
What does the
domain name cost? That will depend on the extension. A .com extension will
cost you roughly $10 per year. That's it! To find yourself a unique domain
name, visit our Domain Registration.
So, now your cost
have went from $49.95 per month with Zam Zuu and a loss of 50% or more or
revenues in commission sales, to less than $70 per year to maintain and
control very own unique website. Remember, you don't want the replicated
site that their company offers that thousands of other people have. You'll
never be found in the search engines if you try to promote something like
that.
You have to
promote you - not them. But, that is exactly what the want you to do; for
thousands of people to pay them $49.95 every month to promote them so they
can take 50% or more of your earnings.
These are not the
people you want to seek for your business adventures when you're trying to promote it.
Effective marketers have people
knocking down their door to get to them because of their knowledge and
uniqueness; and the key is "UNIQUENESS".
For example, now
that you've watched the video, do you see anything there about me being part of
the gigantic retail industry with over 400 websites. I sell for nearly every
company that Zam Zuu offers their Brokers and others they don't offer; and,
I get to keep 100% of the income.
In one of their
older videos when they were heavily embarked into the travel industry as YTB
Travel, they would refer to earning 60% commissions on travel sales. What if I told you that
you could do the exact same thing they are doing and earn 100% commissions
yourself.
The term 60% is
also very misleading. Their video was structured in such a manner as to make you
believe that if you sold for example, a $1000 Cruise, you are going to get
$600. Or, if you booked a $100 Hotel room, you're going to get
$60......Wrong.... and double WRONG!
Here is how the
payment structure works.....
I remember
they would say that they compete with people like
Expedia
and others? Well, they
don't just compete with them, they are actually selling for these travel companies
and others.
Their travel search engines are or were running off of Travelocity.
For example: One
of the the biggest Hotel Booking Companies on the web is
Hotels.com
.
Guess who
Hotels.com
is affiliated with?
Expedia Travel of course.
So, here how it
all breaks down....
Hotels.com
normally pays 5% commission, as do most all other major companies, on any
hotel bookings. So with that in mind I'll refer back to the original example of $100 for a booked hotel
room. With the example cited your earning equates to this:
$100 x 0.05% =
$5
Your
Commission: $5 x 0.60% = $3
So, you now have
made $3.00 on that one sale; considering of course that you can get someone
to visit that replicated website, that like you, 1,000,000 other people have the very
exact same website that they are trying to get people to look at also.
Now, 1,000,000 may
be over or under estimated. Like I said earlier, I don't know how many
affiliates they have under their umbrella. I only use their site as a tool
to teach people how not to market. Any residual income that comes from it is
great - I like checks and automatic deposits of any kind in any domination.
So, the $3 you
just made is a long way from the $60 (or 60% commission) that was
presented to their audience in the video.
What's even
worse, try making a change on that replicated website and see how far you
can get. All 1,000,000 Representatives have the same exact website with
exception of their Business Name displayed on it in the heading.
Folks, there are
so many of these misleading things going on all over the web that it's
really giving some of us, that are really trying, a bad rap.
There so much
misleading information being presented. Injustices being done.... the list
just goes on and on and on.
Again, I want to
reiterate or state: Are their products bad? Absolutely Not!
Is their
marketing approach bad? In my opinion, that's an absolute YES!
So, what's the solution?
For
starters.....I take you back to the original opening statement.
-
You have to
bring your uniqueness of
differentiation to the table.
-
You have to dare to be
different.
-
You
have to establish yourself as the expert.
-
You have to get people coming to
you instead of you trying to fight a loosing battle of chasing after other
people.
Is this easy? NO
IT'S NOT!
Is it doable? YES
IT IS!
So, if you're
serious about making real money on the web there are 2 essential things that
you absolutely must do. You have to learn the art of copywriting and publish
your own uniqueness.
The only way to
publish your own uniqueness is to:
There is no other way. That's it....
You have to start building your uniqueness by effective copywriting and
become a self-directed student of Network Marketing.
Let's go back to the previous example in the video of earning
60% commission on a $100 hotel booking. Remember the quote of:
$100 x 0.05% =
$5
Your
Commission: $5 x 0.60% = $3
Here's what can happen if you have your own website. For
simplicity, I'll use
the same example.
I know you've been wondering - why does he have that website
if he does not market it. The answer is this. I do use it to market
with.....to show people like yourself how not to market. Plus, any sales
that come from it is, like I said, extra money in the bank.
There's nothing wrong with the products themselves....it's their
marketing approach I don't agree with.
For example, why do I want to give away 40% of my money?
Hello.....
It's the same thing as saying, I just made a $1 million in
sales and not knowing any better say, here my friend is your cut of $400,000
- and this is usually paid to someone you don't even know.
With my own websites, and knowing how to effectively place
links, I can make 100% rather than 60%.
How can I do that, you say?
Because....by going directly to
Hotels.com
and establishing a
relationship (or affiliation) with them myself. Now, when I make the
booking, the equation turns to my favor:
$100 x 0.05% =
$5
My
Commission: $5 x 100% = $5
Furthermore, now that I have my own unique website or domain
name, for example:
www.MyNewCompany.com I'm now heading in the direction of uniqueness and
not trying to market that same exact replicated website that 1,000,000
other people have.
Now, as I build unique content on my webpage's with effective
copywriting, the search engines like Google, MSN, Yahoo and others are
beginning to like me.
Why? Because I'm courting them. I'm building a relationship
with them. I'm showing them who I am and my uniqueness. I'm showing them I can
be counted on to deliver relative unique content, on a particular subject
matter, that THEIR CUSTOMERS will benefit from.
What does this do for the search engines? It keeps their
customers coming back searching for unique relative content on the subject
they are searching for because they can always count on the search engine to deliver
something unique and relevant for them to choose from....not the same old
redundant material that everyone has been trying to get listed.
Moreover, the better the content, the higher ranking on the
search engines. Now, that statement is a little overstated - there's more to
it than that.....but, that's it in a nutshell.
So, Do You Need Your Own Web Site?
Yes! The Answer Is Most Definitely -
Yes!
It's the only way to get a good search engine ranking.
To start your website tonight
How do you get started with constructing your own website?
Well, like everything else there are rules you need to follow.
-
You Have To Establish
Or Create Your Own Domain Name.
-
You Have To Register
That Domain Name.
-
You Have To Find A Reputable
Hosting Company That Will Host Your New Website. This Is Enormously
Important For All Hosting Is Not Created Equal. There Are Literally
Thousands And Thousands Of Companies To Choose From. But Most Just Will
Not Deliver When It Comes To Technical Support. And, As A New Person To
Network Marketing, Chance's Are You're Going To Need An Enormous Amount Of
Technical Support Until You Get It Up And Going.
-
You Have To Design Your Webpage's.
Most Reputable Hosting Companies Provide Free Tools To Accomplish This
Without Having To Have Technical Programming Knowledge. It's As Simple
As Point, Type And Click Here To Load Or Save.
-
You Have To Publish Your Webpage's
To The Web.
Unless you very savvy with
writing code, I would not recommend you buying software to try to build a
website from scratch. Most of these websites take on a look of being
someone new and not very skilled at their artwork.
For the new person to
network marketing, the tools provided by a reputable hosting company usually
will more than suffice for your new website.
So, first and foremost, you have to come up with a website or
domain name. For example,
www.HawaiianJoe.net .
A domain name can be any combination of letters and or
numbers up to 63 characters. There are no spaces in a domain name but you
can put a dash - in a domain name. For example:
www.Hawaiian-Joe.com .
In the United States, the most common domain name extensions
(a.k.a. top-level domains) are .com and .net. Other popular top-level
domains (TLDs) include .org, .biz, .info, .us and .ws.
There are also other extensions like .tv and .tk, but in
general you should stick with the most popular ones like the .com if at all
possible.
How do you choose a Good Domain Name?
Here is are some tips or guidelines that will help you
long-term.
1) Keep it short. The shorter, the better. It's
better to keep your domain name less than 15 characters if possible. A
shorter name is easier for people to remember and it also reduces the
likelihood that your visitor will mistype it or misspell it. For example,
BuyThis.com is a lot better than saying YouNeedToBuyThisFromMeRightNow.com .
2) Keep it sweet. The more memorable the domain
name, the easier it is for people to remember. You could have the best
website in the world, but if people cannot remember you or your domain name
it will cut down on your return visitors.
3) Keep it simple or seal it with a KISS. Make
sure the domain name is easy for people to spell. In other words, like
an old Chief Master Sergeant, that I once knew in Korea, had a stamp printed
up with K.I.S.S. on it. One of his daily task was to review any
correspondence going out from higher echelons. Whenever he found problems
with the content being over-inflated or bad wording, he would seal or stamp it with a K.I.S.S. and send it back for rewriting. This little technique was driving
one particular Air Force Major crazy and he finally got the nerve to ask the
Chief what this K.I.S.S. business was all about. The Chief smiled really
big, while I'm already in the background busting a gut laughing, and said:
Keep It Simple Stupid!
The moral of the story here is, unless you
already have powerful branding within the marketplace, don't make it
complicated for your customers. Do not go with a domain name like
TheRiteWay.com when you can say TheRightWay.com. You're only going to cost
yourself sales by confusing your customers.
4) Choose a domain name that reflects your business.
Don't just choose a random name. For example, if you plan on marketing to
people interested in chickens, you should choose a domain name that has the
word "Chickens" in it such as ChickensAreGreat.com. Or, your domain should
refer to chickens in some way, like PoultrySolutions.com . The former should
help you in the search engines. The latter we be memorable.
5) Choose a .com extension when in doubt. If
you are debating between several different top-level domains, go with the
.com. It is what most people think of when they are typing in a domain name.
While it is true that the best .com domain names are gone, you can still
find a good one if you take some time to look. What I've done was
trademarked "Hawaiian Joe".
So, what I'm doing when I'm wanting to market a
particular product line is simply put the target word in from of or behind
"Hawaiian Joe" or "HJ". For example, my Casino is at
www.HawaiianJoeCasino.com,
and my Financial site is at
www.FinancialHJ.com. My Visa Gift & Merchant cards are at
www.VisaHJ.com.
Just remember, thousands of people who are in the network
marketing business fail and close shop every day and there is a steady
supply of .com domains released back each month from which you can choose
from. There's also millions of word combinations that have not ever been
used just like I've illustrated above.
Just remember to keep it as short as possible, sweet, simple,
and that it reflects your business.
Just one more final word on domain names. You cannot infringe
on someone else's trademarks when buying domain names.
For example, if you're going to sell Hamburger recipes and you think
you have the best hamburger in the world. You could not get away with buying
a domain like WendysSecretBurgerRecipe.com....even if your name is Wendy and
you have no idea what the recipe for Wendy's Old Fashion Burgers is - it
will not work.
Do something like that, and you're asking for a team of
lawyers to jump you so fast, it will leave you wondering what just happen to
that fortune you just made by emailing that burger recipe to everyone in the
world for $1 each. The bottom line is: You cannot buy a domain name that
is trademarked.
Let me re-phrase that. You can buy it, but cannot use it to
market or sell the same products or services they are selling. There are
unethical companies that monitor domain names that are expiring and grab
them in hopes of selling them to buyers that are unaware at an enormous
markup. Buyer beware and don't infringe on someone else trademark.
So, how can you find out if a company has trademarked the
name you want?
Easy. You can look it up online for free at the United States
Government's Trademark Office at:
www.uspto.gov .
To do the Search:
-
Click New User
Search (Basic Word Mark Search)
-
Enter the name you want
to look up.
-
Give "Hawaiian Joe" a try to see how
it works.
This will show you if
someone else has it or not, and if so what they are selling.
How do you register your newly formed Domain Name?
You have to actually
search ICANN's database to see if what you've came up with is available.
This is another very easy
task. Simply type the name that you came up with in the search box below.
Here again, this is another tool of mine, Hawaiian Joe, Inc. which is
marketed under the name of Hawaiian Joe's Island Hosting (www.Go-Joes.com)
which is just another
dimension of those 400+ websites that I oversee and have total control over.
So, if you're following this five-step process, by now you
should have registered your domain name.
Now, It's time to put it to work for your new online business
to succeed by showing the world your uniqueness. Putting it all into words
with effective copywriting. It's almost time to start building that website.
Don't let that scare you. It's really simple. It's
nothing more that doing exactly what I'm doing right here and now. In fact,
you can do all the copywriting in Microsoft Word or whatever your favorite word
processing program is, then just copy and paste it directly into your
webpage's.
You see, there are people who know, and there are those that
just blow.
Folks, I've been doing this for over 30 years. This is as
simple as 1, 2, 3 for me. The problem is that Corporate America does understand the
simplicity of marketing on the web. They want to get fancy, beautiful
graphics, animation text, and more.
People are not coming online to search for that. Normally, it
distracts from the content of the webpage and causes people not to look
closely at what they're offering. They come online to search for relevant
information that is of interest to them at that time to fulfill a need.
Chances are you're probably here because you have already
gotten into some business adventure, or looking to get into one shortly and
you're just wanting to know how to market it effectively.
That's perfectly ok. We're here to help you in your
endeavors, as well as to make a
living trying to help others as well, to do the same thing in an effective
way.
Before I go further, let me just briefly show you one more
dimension of my network and how things can tie together if given the right
information and approach.
You have heard me mention copywriting
throughout this entire letter. If I have not already said it, let me say it
here and now....
If there is one single thing that you must learn to do - on
your own - is Effective Copywriting.
To save you the time and research, here are three books that
I strongly endorse. When you click on the images, notice who's store you're
now shopping in. This is called, not putting all your eggs in one basket.
You must diversify. Like I tell everyone - whatever business you're
associated with right now could fold any day now.
If you think not, you seriously need to reconsider
and take a good hard look at what transpiring in the US Economy. Many good
company's have closed up because of not being able to market their products
anymore. They're here today and gone tomorrow. If all of your eggs (or efforts)
are all in that one basket that just went under, what are you going to do
tomorrow?
I'm here trying to convince you to see the light and start
your own website. That's just one website. Image having over 400 websites or 50
different companies. You see, all the pros don't just have one website, that
have dozens, if not hundreds.
So, back to my other dimension of my network regarding
copywriting. I strongly suggest that you ascertain these three books and
start investing in your educational future if you're planning on staying on
the web long. At one point, I'll show you how to have a store like this of
your very own, absolutely Free.
But, here again, you need a website or domain name to market
it effectively. It's another one of those programs that's redundant.
A few
million people have the same thing. They just market it on the search
engines under a different name.
What you just witnessed was my Amazon.com
eMarket. Once
you get up and going you can have one also.
If you don't care for my Amazon Store, try my Barnes & Noble
store by
Clicking Here.
It doesn't matter where you
get them, it just matters that you get them and start learning to write copy
that will sell.
However, let
me be honest here, I would be more than ecstatic if you bought the books
from me through the above links so I will earn the affiliate commissions. If not, that's ok also. They were put there, and
endorsed by me, to help you in your endeavors of effectively marketing your
network business.
Notice the first book is written by Bob
Bly and good friend and colleague of mine. Bob has written dozens of books
and now does a lot of online ebook marketing. Bob is considered the best of
the best when it comes to copywriting and you can check his selection of
copywriting and other material by clicking

How do you choose a Good Hosting Company?
As previously stated, not
all Hosting is created equal. There are literally thousands and thousands out there
and they all want your business. Once they get your business, chances are
you're not going to move because you're setup, things are working, but the
problem comes into play when you need that technical support just to keep things
moving along.
Some companies will only
work by email. Others have you holding on the phone for an hour before they
get to you just to talk to you like you're on their level of expertise. They
often forget that you're just an average Joe, that does not know their
technical jargon. You just
know that you have a problem, maybe from a form not working correctly, and
you need help getting it resolved.
Technical support is
essential when is comes to Web Hosting. 24/7 Support these days is an
absolute must. Nothing use to frustrate me more than to be setting aside my
valuable time to work on a particular project by writing code. The code
should be working, and it doesn't. This is usually due to some minor
uniqueness of the hosting company itself. So, I call only to get my answer
to my problem next week. Hello....I working this problem now. I cannot wait
until next week.
The only other thing I'm
going to bring up are the tools that's made available to help you with your
website projects. This is also essential.
If you're not an
experienced web designer, and cannot afford to hire one, you need tools that
are as simple as choosing a web template, point, type, paste, click, save
and upload to the web. If it involves more than that, stay clear of them.
My suggestion is to stay
with the big boys of web hosting. I'll recommend 2 to choose from. The two are of the same corporate structure.
-
Hawaiian Joe's Island Hosting.
Guess who this company belongs to. You may be right if you guessed me.
The 24/7 technical support is is superb. The customer service
is
outstanding. The prices are as cheap as you'll find anywhere in the
industry - including GoDaddy.com. You will not believe the quality of
service that is being rendered for such a cheap price. It simply amazes
me. Every time you have a programming issue, all you have to do is call
and it will normally be resolved on the spot
if it's within our power. We have all the tools in
place for you to build a successful website. And you'll be hard pressed
to find a cheaper price with the quality of Free technical support you
have at your disposal if you ever need them on 24/7 basis.
-
www.GoDaddy.com
GoDaddy.com is just as good as
Hawaiian Joe's Island Hosting. It's basically the same company
under two different names. Same 24/7 Free Technical Support with superb
Customer Service.
-
SiteSell. There's not many that
I'll endorse freely. However, Dr. Ken Evoy has the most comprehensive set of
tools I've ever seen in one place for anyone to make it on the web.
If you cannot succeed with what Dr. Evoy has
to offer, then it just cannot be done. Everything you need from start to
finish is on this one site. Dr. Evoy has written so many books, you can
fill a library on how to market on the Internet. Best of all, it all
Free. I'm not talking about short 20 page material...I'm talking
thousands of pages are available for you to download to learn from. The
above link has a short 2 minute video on it that introduces Dr. Evoy and
his company. Afterwards, you'll be redirected to a 28 minute video that
explains his entire marketing process from start to finish. It's well
worth your time to view this video also, at least to see, what Dr. Evoy
has put together. Like myself, Dr. Evoy has been around for a long time.
Building Your Web Site!
The Single Most
Important Piece Of Information On Your Website. It isn't your
product or service. It isn't fancy graphics or the great content or text you
spent hours laboring over. The single most important piece of information is
your contact information.
You must put at least one
e-mail address up on your website, preferably more information, depending on
what you are selling, so that your customers can contact you with questions
or problems.
Most people simply will not
buy from a company that does not provide this information. Think about it
for a moment, would you give your credit card information to some company
that doesn't provide you with a way to get into contact with them if
something goes wrong with your order? Not me. I don't think so!
Put the contact information
on every page of your site. Or at least put a contact link on every page
that will link them to a page that they can use if help is needed.
The Do's And Don'ts Of Building A Website
When you build your
website:
Do keep you Website
simple. Don't cram it full of clutter or pack with needless
material.
Do make it eye
pleasing. No crazy fonts or colors. The standard fonts for websites
are Arial, Verdana and Times New Roman.
Don't use a Flash
introduction. This method takes to long to load.
People will not stick around long. However, web designers love this crap. It
gives them a chance to show their stuff while loosing sales. Remember the K.I.S.S. The objective is to get people to see your website, not drive them
away with slow loading graphics once they finally get there.
Don't put music or
sound files on your site. This method startles people when they are
surfing. Their immediate reaction is to backtrack immediately. Music on a
website simply is not professional. Just don't do it.
Don't put falling
objects or a different cursor on your website. These are really
annoying to most people and it's not professional. Don't do it.
Don't put a lot of
slow-loading graphics on your page. No matter how pretty they are,
people are not going to sit around waiting for them to load. You can
optimize your images for free using the gifbot at
www.NetMechanic.com
Don't use
many pop-ups on
your Website. Visitors tend to find these annoying. The less you
annoy a visitor, the more likely he or she is to stay and turn into a
customer.
